FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - FAQ's

FAQ 1

Isn't car detailing just an extension of washing but including the interior?

Commonly customers new to the service of car detailing don't realise what the service entails, time taken or indeed how pricing is configured. Car detailing falls into several categories - paint correction, interiors, ceramic coatings, paint repairs, bio-remediation and even engine cleaning.

At Two Step Detailing, we work with each individual client to ensure their car looks its best be it for pre-sale, resetting or simply to improve areas owners don't carry the confidence to themselves.

Whilst detailing can be run as a package based service solution, no two cars are the same. As such we work with clients to ensure we can come up with a bespoke plan to achieve expectations on time and on budget.

FAQ 2

How do you come up with your prices?

Our industry works just like any other service based business. We charge out for our expertise in blocks of time and can often include consumables and workshop sundries. At Two Step Detailing, we work with each individual client to come up with a package of services all combined into one estimate. We can start with our pre-defined packages or you can discuss your priorities so that we can work to a plan...in order of budget.

FAQ 3

Are your package prices fixed?

Nope sorry! As every car is unique and every client has different priorities we can't provide fixed price quotes other than the standard maintenance washing.

Often what appears to be a typical clean turns into something else. For example, for us to vacuum a typical semi-clean 4 door sedan we allow 1 hour.

However if you have a short haired doggo that sheds every time he/she goes to the beach and your car happens to be a Kia Cerato or a Hyundai i30, you can bet your last holiday pay that we will take in excess of 4 hours. As such fixed priced quotes are simply not possible

FAQ 4

How long will you need my car?

This all depends on what your priorities are, our current workload, any bottle necks (due to excessively dirty interiors), delays in getting touch up paint delivered, weather, weekends etc.

We like to turnover cars as quickly as possible but sometimes we may need additional time for a myriad of reasons. Don't fret if you need your car back by a certain time just let us know when you drop it in so we can work it into our daily list of undertakings.

Historically Two Step Detailing started out detailing 1 - 2 cars a day, however we quickly learnt that as no two cars are the same and some take longer than others keeping to set bookings on a day to day basis was causing grief and disappointing customers. As you can imagine some customers had booked several weeks in advance only to be delayed or postponed at the last minute.

We now take a number of cars on a week to week basis and group similar jobs together (for example 3 vehicle interiors on day 1 and 3 vehicle polishes on day 2) This means that our team don't fatigue as quickly (it's a demanding gig) and as such mixing up our production allows for greater attention to detail without cutting corners.

FAQ 5

Can you get all of scratches out?

This all depends on a number of factors and most importantly just how deep they are. As a rule if you can dig into the scratch your fingernail and it sticks - it's unfortunately too deep. Don't despair there may just be a fix.

The first thing is to undertake a paint depth scan to see just how much paint we have to work with. If your car has sufficient paint and clear coat we may choose any number of techniques, however we will discuss the suggested approach and approximate costs prior to embarking on fixing the issues.

However as a rule we won't give a 100% guarantee of removing all your scratches as there are too may factors affecting the work.
